Why did my follower count decrease on Anghami?

At Anghami, we know how important it is for artists and creators to monitor their audience and engagement. If you’ve noticed a drop in your follower count, here’s why:

How the follower system works:

  • When someone listens to one of your tracks, they may be automatically added as a follower.

  • This “auto-follow” feature helps expand your reach and notifies users when you release new content.

  • However, this follow is temporary unless the listener:

    • Continues to engage with your content, or

    • Chooses to follow you manually.

Why followers might drop:

  • If a user stops listening or doesn’t follow organically, the system automatically removes them after about 50 days.

  • This ensures your followers list reflects genuine interest in your music.

Good to know:

  • There is no technical issue—this is expected behavior.

  • The decrease is a natural adjustment as inactive auto-followers are removed.

  • The goal is to maintain a meaningful and engaged audience.
