How song plays are counted

What is "Plays" under each song and how it is counted

Anghami song plays reflect how many times a song has been played and can be an important measure of a song's overall popularity. We want to make sure that songs are being played by actual humans and not computer programs and there are no fraudulent attempts to increase the number of plays. During the first couple of hours after a song has been released, we'll only show plays that our systems believe to be valid. This might not yet show all legitimate plays at that time.

After quality plays are counted, play count updates more frequently. The process of including all quality plays can take some time depending on a song's popularity and the number of plays. Afterward, the play count updates more frequently, but keep in mind that we're constantly validating plays, so play count can always be adjusted.

Frozen play count

On some songs, the play count might seem frozen or not show all the plays that you expect. Song plays are algorithmically validated to maintain fair and positive experiences for content owners, artists, and users. To verify that plays are real and accurate, Anghami may temporarily slow down, freeze, or adjust the play count, as well as discard short playbacks.
