About content censorship

Anghami does not censor music. We make music available in whatever form it’s delivered to us.The record label company identifies which songs and albums are explicit.

As a legal service, we have to abide by the rules and regulations of these labels and feature only the versions that they deliver (censored/clean lyrics). This is mainly because the MENA region is classified as a "Clean Only Market" hence an album is only released in its clean version, and it's the same case for other digital platforms in the Middle East.

Often, albums are released in “explicit” and “clean” versions. By default, both albums will be visible.

Anghami shows explicit songs by default.

To hide or enable Explicit songs and albums:

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Scroll down to find Hide Explicit songs
  3. Under Hide Explicit songs, tap to select On or Off, as required.
Something to keep in mind is that the explicit filter removes explicit language but not content. The clean version will stay available in the app.
